Clean the wheel thoroughly, remove loose or damaged paint, sand the surface to create a suitable key and degrease it before spraying. Peeling, blistered or heavily damaged coatings should be removed or repaired first.

Removing the tyre usually produces the most professional result because it provides access to the complete wheel and avoids paint edges around the tyre bead. For a smaller cosmetic refurbishment, the tyre may remain fitted if it is carefully masked. The wheel should still be removed from the vehicle before painting.

Use the application temperature stated on the product label or technical data sheet. The aerosol can, wheel and surrounding air should all be within the recommended range. Cold metal can slow drying and encourage condensation, while excessive heat can cause the coating to dry too quickly.
