Check the exact can first

Samurai product types and markets may use different instructions. Read the UK label and SDS before activation. Do not activate the can until the surface is prepared, masked and ready to spray. Activation is irreversible.

Before activation

Confirm the product is correct for the substrate and compatible with the preceding and following coats.

Record the batch and product details if needed for the project.

Bring the can, workpiece and spraying area into the permitted temperature range naturally.

Complete cleaning, sanding and masking; arrange the work so spraying can begin immediately after mixing.

Put on the PPE required by the label and SDS and confirm that ventilation, extraction and ignition control are suitable.

Activation steps

Shake before activation. With the internal components still separate, shake the can for the pre-activation time stated on the label so the base component is uniform.

Stand the can upright on a firm, level surface. Keep the nozzle pointed away from your face and other people.

Locate the activation control specified on the can. On Samurai’s single-head system, activation is performed at the spray-head assembly. Follow the printed diagram for that exact product; do not improvise, puncture the can or use tools unless the label explicitly supplies and instructs them.

Press firmly as directed until the activation action is complete. The mechanism releases the separately stored component into the main can.

Shake thoroughly for the label-specified mixing time. Samurai Europe’s published general guidance describes shaking for about two to three minutes after pressing the activation control, but the instructions on the UK can take priority.

Allow any induction time stated on the label. Not every formulation requires the same waiting period.

Test-spray on a suitable card. Check that the nozzle is clear, the fan is even and the material is spraying normally before moving to the workpiece.

Start the job and monitor time. Write the activation time on a piece of masking tape. Use the product within its stated pot life and environmental conditions.

After activation

Keep shaking at the intervals stated on the label during use.

Clean the nozzle between stages if the product instructions require it.

Do not rely on the can still spraying as proof that the mixed product remains usable; viscosity and curing can change before the can is empty.

Never attempt to reverse the activation, open the can, refill it, burn it or manually puncture it.
